A US based midwestern nuclear power station installed new steam generators that required the flange pedestals or bearing surface pockets to be re-machined to match existing column elevations. The estimated amount of material to be removed per surface was between .50" - .75" (12.7 - 19mm) and held within a flatness tolerance of +/- .030" (.76mm).
Wachs Solution:
Wachs was commissioned to build a 3" (76.2mm) shell mill cutting module integrated to an extended Tube Sheet Clamp and a Drop Deck Interface Support Table for X-Y positioning the milling module to the desired machining elevation.
Specifications:
Drive Type: Hydraulic
