A portable machine was needed to decommission OD string casings in a deepwater environment. String diameters were variable ranging from 7.625" (19.4cm) to 24" (61cm) OD.

Wachs was commisssioned to build a hydraulically powered remote controlled rail platform equipped with a bi-directional milling head for performing uninterrupted 10' foot (2.54m) axial segement cuts in both directions, and designed to withstand corrosion and pressure extremes.
