A large, complex cylindrical structure required a specialized reciprocating severing saw for dismantlement. The 32’ (9.8m) diameter vessel was comprised of a matrix of materials including armor steel plate, lead, borated poly, asbestos, and fiberboard, with wall thickness variations ranging from 18 - 42" (45.7 - 106.7cm).
Wachs Solution:
Custom design and build a 12’ (3.7m) straight and 12’ (3.7m) radius rail mounting arrangement with a universal carrier to house either the drilling module or reciprocating module. The drilling module is used to create the blade’s starting slot, and the reciprocating module is to segment the cylindrical structure in both the vertical and horizontal planes.
